Well, the title says it all. On Friday, I accepted a job offer from the Delta Institute in Chicago to build and manage a pipeline of pollution prevention, energy efficiency and carbon sequestration projects in Michigan. Yup, I get to stay in my home in Lansing! Halleluah!! In all, I will receive a great salary, 5 weeks of leave time plus government holidays, medical & dental, 401k, office space in downtown Lansing and business expense reimbursement – an incredible package of benefits! I’m so lucky. Interestingly, my MSEL degree earned me an additional $8k. That is, my salary at Delta is $8,000 higher than my final salary at the Michigan Senate. Thought of another way, that salary bump will pay for the MSEL degree in only 2.5 years. So, I’m very happy and excited to start working on the 25th. Of course, the job will not be easy, as I have to close at least 20 deals in 12 months. So, the pressure will be on me to perform and show results right away. gulp Looks like I’ll be putting in many 50 and 60 hour weeks. Wish me luck, I will most definitely need it!
In other news, my classmate Somer has accepted a job offer in Sacramento, California. Way to go Somer!! Say hello to Arrrrnuld for me!
Well, I need to finish packing for my trip to Washington DC tomorrow. I’m attending the global cap-and-trade conference on Monday and Tuesday at the Westin Hotel, Embassy Row. It looks like a marvelous conference, where I’ll have the opportunity to meet some of the scientists whom I cited in my Marsh Fellowship Paper.. How cool is that? Until next time, have a huge day!
