Today was the graduation celebration for MELPs and LLMs. It was a celebration, as Marc Mihaly explained, and not a ceremony, because most of us actually still have work to do. Which is true. I am in the middle of a class right now, just finished the mid-term (which is a strange thing to have to do for a two week course) and still have a paper to write for it. And, after that, I have another class… in Missoula, MT! Wahoo! Not a bad way to end my master’s degree, that’s for sure.

Anyways, the celebration was lovely. It was short, sweet and to the point. We had Gus Speth speak, which was nice, and we clapped after every person’s name because there just aren’t that many people. They had a nice reception afterwards, with good food and drink, and it was just a lovely, informal gathering. It didn’t really feel like graduation, but that’s OK. It was actually nice to have a graduation speech — things like that really can pump you up for the work ahead.

We followed the reception up with a dip in Silver Lake over in Barnard — a totally awesome place that you should definitely check out while you’re here. It’s especially good in summer. You can kayak, swim, and eat great food at the Barnard General Store next door. I love it.

Alright, enough procrastinating… time to get cracking on this paper that I have one week to write. Not exactly what I want to do after graduation and in the summer, but life could be worse šŸ™‚
